Vienna/AT November 2014
Two YPACler from Innsbruck were invited by Norbert Weixlbaumer, member of the Jury of the "Alpine Town of the Year" association and Professor of Geography at Vienna University, to present the Youth Parliament to the Alpine Convention to a group of students.
Firstly, they gave them a general overview about the topic and explained precisely the resolutions of the last years and which of them had been implemented (e.g. take a bike for a ride, YPAC 2014, France). Then the YPACler answered their opened questions.
The students were very astonished, that the YPAC is working so well, as it is at the moment and always was. It was definitely an exciting day and a good opportunity to spread the YPAC and catch the young people with its spirit.
Idrija/Slovenia Oktober 2014
Nine YPACler travelled from 17/10 to 19/10/2014 to Idrija, Slovenia to participate in the General Assembly of the „Alpine town of the year“ association in order to exchange with the project YSAM and devise the future of the YPAC especially for the Platform Future.
At Friday evening we had the pleasure to meet the young people from the YSAM project and we compared your projects and talked about possibility to improve and differences in the projects but must of the differences of the different alpine towns.
The second days we worked to define purpose, lead questions and need for the following YPACs and also tried to elaborate the work of the Platform Future with the sectors team, skills, elements, invitation, organization, process, methods and harvest.
In the afternoon on Saturday the General Assembly took place and was organized as a Marketplace, with 5 thematic tables. We had one of them for the YPAC and the others were about Climate Change of Annecy, Youth parliament of Sonthofen, Family friendly towns of Bad Aussee and the YSAM project of Idrija. There we also established contact with some politicians which gave us interesting inputs for our work.
In the evening we were invited to a concert of two orchestras from Chambéry and from Idrija and afterwards we had a delicious dinner. On Sunday we already had to start our long journey back home.
In these few days we developed so many interesting ideas and created a good basis and fresh approaches for the further work from the Platform Future.
It was definitely an enriching and fruitful weekend!
